Xbox Games Showcase started with a bang this year, and they’re letting all their games do the talking. PlayStation recently revealed Romeo is a Dead Man, from Suda51, in their State of Play, but it seems like Xbox already had an answer to the title’s funkiness.
Squanch Games’ disparaging shooter is back with more insults, more goof, and definitely more funkiness. Yes, High on Life 2 is real, and it’s coming later this year if you can believe that. The cartoony shooter is back with less brains and more brawn, and a new trailer has just been revealed.
High on Life returns with a sequel that promises more crappy jokes and funkiness
High on Life wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but that didn’t stop the developers at Squanch Games from taking it a step further. A new trailer for the comedic first-person shooter was revealed at Xbox Games Showcase, and it seems like they’re doubling down on the funkiness of the first one.
The trailer showcases new gorgeous graphics and plenty of new guns that can’t keep their mouths shut to save their lives. While the first game was subject to mixed reviews and a lot of criticisms from critics and players alike, the toilet humor is back, and it’s stronger than ever.
Dual weapons are also featured in the trailer for High on Life 2, and it’s oozing with weirdness. Well, that was kind of expected since Justin Roiland was literally involved with the first title, even though that caused some controversy in the gaming community.
Suda51’s Romeo is a Dead Man looks great, and I’m loving how different it looks from your usual third-person action game. But when it comes to funkiness and weirdness, it’s mandatory to hand it over to High on Life 2, as it looks like the first game on steroids.
Plus, from the looks of it, you get a new hoverboard in the sequel, which means that areas will be more open and combat will have more mobility to it, and that also confirms another aspect. Parkour! A major upgrade from the first game already, if you ask us.
Is that a bad thing? Not really. Weird games are cool, and I’m glad this was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase. While in-depth details about the title are still kind of fuzzy, the trailer confirmed the platforms it’ll be arriving on and the release window.
High on Life 2 arrives this winter on all platforms

You know the best point of distinction between Romeo is a Dead Man and High on Life 2? It’s that the toilet humor arrives first as the sequel officially arrives this winter on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PC, and Game Pass.
While the first game was a timed Xbox exclusive, this one’s dropping on PlayStation 5 day and date, so all players can have fun at the same time. Squanch Games has also revealed an overview of the highly anticipated sequel:
An intergalactic conspiracy threatens the fate of humanity! Team up with a wide cast of talking alien guns as you shoot, stab, and skate your way through the exotic locales to take down the bad guys and save your favorite species (humans)!
So if you hought the first game was weird, get ready for a whole new world of weirdness as High on Life 2 promises more action, more traversal, higher stakes, and also more crap talking guns that’ll make you want to shoot yourself. It’s like if Tony Hawk overdosed on goofiness.
But that’s the charm of the game, isn’t it? Sometimes you need a companion while playing an FPS. If you don’t have any friends, do not worry, as the guns will simply keep you busy in more ways than one. It’s up to you if you can tolerate it.
