Wind Breaker: Tsubaki Used ‘Naruto’s Most Boring Technique in a Delinquent Anime

Episode 10 of Wind Breaker featured the fight that every fan had been waiting for. The last episode featured Tsubakino’s challenge to Suzuri, and the latest one showed the one-on-one fight between the two. However, the conclusion of the battle did not go as fans had expected it would.

Instead, Tsubakino extended a helping hand towards Suzuri, finally understanding his pain and everything he had gone through. The collision of their ideologies ended in an unexpected show of sympathy, which reminded fans of Naruto’s Talk no Jutsu.

Tsubaki used Naruto‘s legendary ‘Talk no Jutsu’ in the latest Wind Breaker episode

Naruto is famous for his usage of Talk no Jutsu. In the series, it is a crucial skill that the protagonist possesses on top of his overflowing list of skills. It enables Naruto to connect with his opponents. He often uses it to make villains understand his own point of view, and even the most hardened villains have responded to it. But at one point, it just seems like an overused/overhyped technique, and the same feeling is extended to Wind Breaker.

Episode 10 of Wind Breaker season 2 highlights the struggles of Suzuri and his team. It shows how he treasured his found family. He was raised in poverty and thus didn’t want his team to go through the same pain. Members of GRAVEL were fighting for survival. At some point, Suzuri began to have a nihilist outlook due to his harsh upbringing. He began to ridicule the idea of having an honest life because he did not believe in hopes and dreams.

The difference in ideologies between Suzuri and Tsubakino became clear once they began fighting. But while Suzuri was bitter, Tsubakino tried his best to be compassionate and heard Suzuri’s story. His ideology and nature did not let him get irritated with Suzuri’s hostile attitude, instead, he lent a helping hand to Suzuri. The fight ended with Suzuri accepting Tsubakino’s help.

Is Tsubakino’s Talk no Jutsu unnecessary in Wind Breaker?

Wind Breaker is a Shonen anime that focuses on delinquents. These high schoolers fight their way through life. But while the Bofurin have a more protective attitude, other schools do not. That is why Bofurin members get into fights with gangs that have inhumane tendencies. The series began with Sakura’s aim to reach the top by fighting, and every issue gets solved with battles.

Thus, fans fully expected the same to happen with Tsubakino and Suzuri. Instead, Tsubakino began talking with his fists, a concept that Umemiya introduced in the series. Tsubakino understood Suzuri’s pain and could not help by empathize with his opponent. As a result, the fight did not have a satisfactory end.

Due to Tsubakino’s wish to help Suzuri and GRAVEL, he willfully forfeits the fight. The message is deep and emotional, but that is not what some fans want from a delinquent-filled action series. But on the other hand, Wind Breaker has always been about solving misunderstandings and helping others, so the fight stayed true to its nature.

Wind Breaker anime is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
