‘Wind Breaker’ Is Finally Letting Suo Do Something Different From His Mysterious Bad Boy Persona

Episode 11 of Wind Breaker season 2 focused on Yamato Endo, an ex-Furin student. But while the run-in with him was intriguing as well as disturbing, another character stole the spotlight, even if for a brief few seconds. Hayato Suo has always kept a mask of calm indifference, but in the latest episode, his mask broke.

It’s next to impossible to provoke Suo. He is ruthless during fights but is usually not the one to begin them. But in the latest episode, he jumped in to defend Sakura, giving fans a glimpse into how he feels rather than what he shows on his face.

Wind Breaker season 2 episode 11 finally showed someone getting a rise out of Suo

Hayato Suo has been a character whose facade of calmness is impossible to break. He is always smiling and does not sweat anything, even in the most critical situations. He is the kind of character who never lets his irritation and annoyance show on his face. However, the latest episode of Wind Breaker gave fans something different.

As the episode introduced Endo, he showed a keen interest in Sakura. He was even aware of the past fight against KEEL in which Sakura had charged in and lost control for a brief moment. During the fight, it was the Furin seniors who saved the day and showed Sakura what he should have done.

Endo stated that he had known for a long time that someone like Sakura did not belong to Furin. He suggested that Sakura drop out of Furin. But as soon as the words dropped out of his mouth, Tsubakino and Nirei jumped Endo and began to fight him. Endo even stated that someone like Sakura is better off alone rather than wasting his potential at Furin. His comments riled up Suo, someone who normally avoids taking the offensive unless it directly involves him.

Time and time again, Wind Breaker has shown that Suo is the kind of guy who always fights on the defensive. He is an expert in evasive maneuvers and always avoids the attack of his opponents till they exhaust themselves. He rarely ever takes the offensive, but in this particular incident, Suo went to fight with serious intentions.

Suo did not care about whether he was attacked first or not; instead, he went ahead fully intending to hurt Endo. This is a rare show of emotions for him and shows how much he has become attached to both Sakura and Furin as a whole. Since Suo’s range of emotions is limited, this is the first time that the audience has seen him reacting to something so severely.

It was a nice change of pace and also refreshing to see the character change over the course of the anime. His usual laid-back demeanor was cast aside to defend Sakura. With three people defending him, Sakura realized how much he indeed belonged to Furin and joined the fight as well.

Wind Breaker anime is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
