This might come out as good or bad news depending on which console you own. Recently, some leaks have surfaced on the internet regarding the release of Halo on the PlayStation platform. Wasn’t that one of the most adored Xbox exclusive IPs? Well, looks like it won’t be long.
If you have laid your eyes on the Halo franchise for a long time, and have been an avid supporter of PlayStation, then you’re in luck. Sadly enough, it really can’t be stated as a win for Xbox this time, as they’re technically giving away everything that made them what they are today.
Halo is likely arriving on PlayStation “soon,” as a trusted leaker suggests
Xbox sure doesn’t want to gatekeep games with exclusives, which was evident from the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. However, the story didn’t stop there as new leaks suggest Halo is coming to PlayStation. Yes, it is surprising for all of us, the title has been exclusive to Xbox for many years now. Why are they even giving away one of their USPs?
The news comes from @gruntdotapi on X, a credible Halo leaker with an astounding track record. According to their intel, PlayStation will soon receive a Halo title. Furthermore, it’s not even Halo Infinite or Master Chief Collection, which are fairly recent. So what is it?

Let us connect some dots since it’s not Halo Studio’s recent titles. During the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, there were no mentions of a Halo game, while they’ve showcased Black Ops 7 and even Gears of War: E-Day. However, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, did tease it by saying, “the return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning. “
It’s probably safe for us to assume Spencer meant Halo: Combat Evolved Remake, which is already rumored to be in development. The new game will likely be remade in Unreal Engine 5, and desert their in-house Slip-Space engine. So, since it is developed on UE5, the chances of it being released on PlayStation surely increase.
As for release, it is speculated that it will be released in 2026, as it will mark the 25th anniversary of the Halo franchise. Now, PlayStation fans, you shouldn’t get your hopes up already. Halo, at its heart, is still an Xbox exclusive, just like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5 were. Pretty sure you know the answer already, a delay is waiting for you.

Exclusivity of games has been bread and butter for multiple platforms, be it Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo. All their specific IPs that mark their legacy, for instance, Nintendo has Mario. We all know who the main icon for Xbox is; it has always been Halo.
If Xbox has decided to remove the exclusivity tag and make a release possible on PlayStation, this could mean they’ve officially taken an exit from the exclusivity war. A bit sad for us Xbox fans, but what can be done? In the end, the decision lies with Xbox, and they are making the call.
What’s more heartbreaking is that during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, there were many titles that had support for all platforms. Sure, PC can be considered in the list, but PlayStation as well? They’ve never provided their exclusives for the Xbox console, are we doing it?
What is Xbox’s game plan here? Do they want to get PlayStation fans hooked on their IPs and then cut ties to raise console sales? Or do they want to focus on getting more sales out of their games?
