Luffy has made quite a few enemies in One Piece, and while he usually deals with them within their specific arcs, a few haven’t been dealt with or need revisiting. Fans have certainly been waiting for the protagonist to defeat Akainu again after the Marineford Arc.
There are several other antagonists we can think of whose battles against Luffy are a long time coming. The Five Elders and Imu are primary targets since we’re in One Piece’s Final Saga, and they are the leaders of the corrupt world, so it’s fitting that it would happen.
Despite the long list, there is one character every fan needs to see Luffy thoroughly defeat. It’s Blackbeard, someone who makes even the silly protagonist’s blood boil. Fans have even imagined how it would look.

Ever since Blackbeard killed Thatch, betrayed the Whitebeard Pirates, and gave up Portgas D. Ace to the Marines, fans of One Piece have loathed him. That word might be an understatement of what we feel about the villain, but it summarizes it perfectly. He’s one of the most annoying and despicable ones in One Piece.
Luffy, too, feels this disdain for Blackbeard. The two of them are like two sides of the same coin, which was hinted at during the latter’s introduction in the series. They briefly fought during the Impel Down Arc, but the protagonist already had a disadvantage due to how much poison was in his system.
Their fight, however, isn’t over. Fans of One Piece and Luffy might never forgive Blackbeard’s actions, despite the fact that he’s just doing what benefits him. He’s an antagonist through and through, void of any redeemable qualities. Law and the Heart Pirates’ defeat made the sentiment even more intense.
We haven’t seen any confrontation happen between Luffy and Blackbeard yet, but that doesn’t mean fans can’t let their imagination go rampant. This animator on YouTube, Endeejay, who often makes videos about One Piece, made one that looks entirely too accurate.
The small details in their animation are incredible and portray the exact energy of Luffy’s Gear 5 form gives. It’s fun and ridiculous, but it shows how serious he is about the fight, especially since he’s facing Blackbeard. The moment when he breaks a hammer on the YouTube bar is very creative.
The animation is also on par with Toei Animation. We wouldn’t be surprised if this was leaked from their headquarters, which many comments have joked about, but it’s a testament to how gorgeous the video is.
Will One Piece end with Luffy fighting Blackbeard?
As previously mentioned, there are plenty of antagonists that Luffy still has to defeat. Imu is the overarching antagonist and possibly the most dangerous in the series. They can turn their victims into a demonic version of themselves, and some fans theorize that defeating them is the key to One Piece.
Blackbeard, however, is the top antagonist to defeat. He might even be aiming for Imu, so who knows if he will steal their powers and reign supreme? It will certainly make him the highest target in One Piece.
The fan animation looks exactly like how Eiichiro Oda intends their fight to happen. Fans might even accuse Endeejay of being the mangaka himself, especially with how accurate the sequences were. Seeing this, if they chose Luffy’s fight against Blackbeard as the final one, it will definitely be an epic ending to One Piece.
This animation also proves how creative One Piece fans are. It’s incredible how they can make high-quality animation with just a few resources that even rivals Toei Animation.
