Ginny and Georgia season 3 promised high-octane drama the moment it dropped – complete with courtroom drama and pregnancy plotlines After wasting no time in catching up to where it left off in the finale of the second season (we will go into that in a while), the comedy-drama jetted off to its fast-paced story pretty quickly.
After Georgia was arrested during her own wedding reception in the finale of the second season, it was given that the third act would be about the murder trial of Tom Fuller, Cynthia’s husband. Yet, by the end of the season, the trial finally came to an end, mostly thanks to Austin.
While Austin became the key player in the murder trial, it came at a little expense. While Austin became the MVP in the murder trial, it was his half-sister, Ginny, who was the playmaker, not with a pristine image, nevertheless.
Ginny and Georgia had Ginny manipulate her little brother in the long run
When we say Ginny was the playmaker, we mean that she was the mastermind behind Austin’s bombastic confession in the courtroom, primarily directed toward saving their mother. While Ginny and Georgia started with the murder trial, it ended with the judge being suspicious enough to write off Georgia as not guilty.

It, however, happened only because of Austin. After the PI, Gabriel Cordova, accused Georgia (Dianne Howey) of being a serial killer, things started falling apart for the mayoress. Nevertheless, the script of the trial flipped when Austin came up with an emulation of the truth.
When Austin was asked by Simone to come to the stands, the teenager shocked the courthouse by claiming that when he was hiding in Tom Fuller’s room, he saw his father, Gil, murder Fuller.
While it was a lie, his claim was substantiated by Fuller’s widow, Cynthia, as well. Cynthia took to the stands to claim that Gil could have been her husband’s murderer. All these claims were enough to have the jury doubt the accusations against Georgia and give her a “not guilty” verdict. (via ScreenRant)
While this might have provided a satisfying conclusion to Georgia’s murder trial, it also brought to the fore a tragic element. As Ginny & Georgia has never shied away from bringing out the uglier sides of personal relationships, it didn’t deviate from its core principle here either.
In season three, apart from exploring the possibility of Georgia’s pregnancy, the show also explored the disturbing equation between Ginny and Austin. Austin might have said the lie in the courthouse, but he was primarily manipulated by his half-sister.
The betrayal goes even deeper as Ginny manipulates Austin to lie against his own biological father to save Georgia from the jaws of punishment. Though this season has not explored the boy’s mental state after falsely accusing his father of murder, it can be expected that the fourth season will focus on the psyche of Georgia’s son.
With the probability of a baby on board, Georgia’s protective instincts might kick in for the fourth season. However, it remains to be seen how the mother-of-two would protect her son from a potential mental breakdown in the upcoming season.
The Ginny and Georgia showrunners weigh in on the implications of the lie
While all might apparently look rosy, Ginny & Georgia creators have already hinted that the blatant lie might take a toll on Austin in the upcoming season. Speaking to ScreenRant, series creator Sarah Lampert and showrunner Sarah Glinski shared how his decision would come back to bother him. Glinski explained,
But yeah, it’s going to be rough for Austin because of the guilt of having to choose between his mom and his dad – and then ultimately choosing his mom, but losing his dad.

However, Glinski further added that Austin’s guilt trip would further help in the development of the storyline of Georgia (Brianne Howey) as well. As the mother would learn how her children suffer because of her decisions. Glinski continued,
I think it was important this season for Georgia to realize that her actions have consequences on her kids. We can see very much that going into episode 10; her actions have had huge consequences on Ginny and on Austin. And she’ll have to live with that in season 4.
While Austin’s struggle would definitely be difficult to act on, it might result in a greater good. One cannot help but hope that Georgia would finally learn from her mistakes to provide a safe haven for her children, while also trying to bridge the gap between the siblings.
Ginny and Georgia is currently available to stream on Netflix in the USA.
