Maybe deep down, we all knew something like this would happen to Rainbow Six Siege X. The new Paragon skin for Valkyrie simply looks like a copy-and-paste of a skin from Valorant with outrageous animations. This is the Tencent effect, which has been seen on various games owned by them.
Ubisoft has been lacking in terms of providing animated skins, and we hoped that would change with Rainbow Six Siege X. However, it wasn’t expected that a fantasy-themed skin would be added, which feels completely out of place. Thanks to the new weapon inspection feature, we’ll find more people slacking. Great!
Tencent’s takeover of Rainbow Six Siege X might be troubling

We all know Rainbow Six Siege X will go free-to-play starting June 10, 2025. And the Paragon skin for Valkyrie will be available soon after on June 17. However, instead of excitement, the fanbase is left with a sour taste as the new skin seems out of place.

Ubisoft’s main idea with the Rainbow Six Siege IP was to give players a unique tac-shooter experience. However, that idea wasn’t done justice completely, and you might agree with that. Some of the abilities were too futuristic and felt out of place. Still, they did make the gameplay fun, while keeping the tac-shooter elements, ultimately allowing it to survive for ten years.
With Rainbow Six Siege X, however, the approach seems to be focused on skin consumers. The Paragon skin is a clear sign that Siege will be becoming like every other live-service game. No notable game changes, and predatory skin bundles that have no use other than flexing. The worst part is, this skin is too flashy and doesn’t fit in with the serious tone of the game.
valorant lookin ahh animation

While you all may blame Ubisoft for the Paragon skin, Tencent probably played a huge part here. You all know Tencent pretty much bought Ubisoft and will be in charge of their major IPs like Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and more. Tencent also owns Riot Games, the makers of Valorant and League of Legends. See any similarity now?
Valorant is known for creating mouth-watering skins that consumers cannot resist. Rainbow Six Siege is introducing a new skin similar to those. If you compare the reload and inspection animations yourself, you might get the idea.
As expected, fans are not supporting Rainbow Six Siege X‘s new skin venture

Rainbow Six Siege X is a unique game, and everyone loves it for that reason. However, adding outrageous skins has always been frowned upon. Collaborative skin bundles were still okay. But a regular skin set that looks straight out of Valorant, fans will surely not like that.
i actually thought this was Valorant… WTH ubisoft? you copying valorant with the weapon skins and teh inspect gun feature….

The history of Ubisoft taking the right steps with the Rainbow Six Siege franchise is always followed by a disaster. For so long, players were hyped about the refreshed take on their favorite franchise. It still has some flaws, but the excitement was there. But, following the Paragon skin reveal, Ubisoft has yet again managed to get itself a fresh controversy.
We, Rainbow Six Siege fans, only want a few things: good gameplay, Operators, and new guns. Skins are secondary, but we still like them since they give us some sense of customization. Animated skins that are over the top, well, that is surely a blasphemy to the entire fanbase.
If the community wanted to flex skins more than gameplay, they would have surely preferred other alternatives. Now that Rainbow Six Siege X is on its way to losing its uniqueness, will players still stick by to support it? Will our favorite franchise become another Valorant? Who knows?
