You may know Brett Goldstein for his iconic portrayal in the series Ted Lasso. However, Marvel fans know him as Hercules with his portrayal in Thor: Love and Thunder and the MCU.
Well, with his appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, fans were waiting for the news that Hercules might be in Thor 5. However, there is some allegedly sad news: Marvel’s next project with the Ted Lasso star is surprisingly not Thor 5. It is, however, a spin-off based on his character, aptly titled Hercules. That’s not the sad news, though.
Ted Lasso star will reprise his role… in Hercules
Brett Goldstein found worldwide fame with his role as Roy Kent in the show Ted Lasso. Being a comedic actor, he was asked to portray the role of Hercules in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder (hence the comedic part).

Although Chris Hemsworth uploaded a farewell video to his portrayal of Thor on social media, fans still do not believe that he will part ways with this iconic character.
One of the OG Avengers, the world has seen Hemsworth in the costume of Thor since 2011. People were hopeful that Thor 5 would undergo production and Hemsworth would return to his iconic role, and rumors suggested that he would face off against Brett Goldstein’s Hercules in the upcoming movie.
However, it seems that two rumors are clashing against each other, and we do not know what to believe anymore. According to notable insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is allegedly developing a solo Hercules project starring the Ted Lasso star.
Appearing in a mid-credit scene, Russel Crowe’s Zeus orders his son Hercules to bring down a rain of gods’ wrath on Earth because they have looked to their superheroes for too long. Fans thought that Hercules would face off against Thor in Thor 5, but Marvel Studios has thrown a curveball. Now, two different rumors are crashing, and if even one of them is true, it might be sad news for the fans.
Is Chris Hemsworth retiring from Thor or not?
Chris Hemsworth shared a very emotional post, which acted as a tribute to the 15 years that he has spent portraying and improving the role of Thor Odinson. Although fans became concerned for Thor’s safety in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, a new rumor was spread.

Daniel Richtman also alleged that Marvel Studios was proceeding with the development of Thor 5. If Hemsworth paid a tribute, was it just a mid-tribute moment when he felt like sharing his feelings?
Or, if the insider is right, is Marvel Studios going ahead with Thor 5, and is Chris Hemsworth not going to be in the movie? If that is the case, the whole Hercules-Thor storyline would be abandoned, and it would make no sense to include those scenes in the MCU.
There could be a reason why Marvel Studios is allegedly developing a Hercules show with the Ted Lasso star, but there are a lot of questions and no real answers as of now. Nothing can be confirmed or denied, and what we all can do is simply wait and watch for further updates within the MCU.
Thor: Love and Thunder is available to stream on Disney+ (USA).
