Sofia Vergara is embracing summer and her confidence with a bold new Instagram post that has fans buzzing. The Modern Family star set Instagram ablaze with her sultry, topless poolside photo. The post, which doubled as a nod to her skincare brand Toty, also shows her bold side as she embraced the season.
But behind every girl’s bold moment, there’s always a vulnerable side that often remains hidden. Similarly, behind her radiant public persona, the actor also once opened up about a challenging moment in her acting career. Last year, she shared her experience of her first intimate scene for a major Netflix project, and how it tested her vulnerability.

On Sunday, June 8, Sofia Vergara posted a topless photo on @sofiavergara/Instagram while sunbathing by the pool. Lying on a recliner, wearing only a minimal black thong bikini bottom. Vergara shared the image with the caption, “Lllego el verano! @Toty,” Spanish for ‘Summer has arrived.‘
The post also promoted her skincare brand, Toty, which she has been promoting actively. The backdrop also gave the summer vibes: tropical greenery, a shimmering pool, and Vergara’s signature long hair flowing freely in the sun. Wearing barely any makeup, she exuded confidence in the post.
Her post quickly went viral, gaining likes and comments. Fans called her “too hot to handle” and “ageless.” Even her co-judge from America’s Got Talent, Heidi Klum, couldn’t stop commenting on her post.
While many fans celebrated her body positivity, the actress had her fair share of discomfort in front of the camera. Vergara seems completely at ease here now, but last year she opened up about a more vulnerable moment in her career, filming her first se* scene for Netflix’s Griselda.

In the 2024 six-part Netflix miniseries, Griselda, Vergara took on the role of Griselda Blanco, the Colombian drug lord known for building one of the most powerful cartels in the 1980s. Well, it was a more complex role than her comedic role that made her famous on Modern Family. The role not only required heavy prosthetics and hours of makeup daily but also tested Vergara’s personal comfort levels.
During a Netflix FYSEE event, she was asked if she ever felt out of her depth while filming the mini-series. She replied (via The Sun USA):
I don’t think I’ve ever done like a se* scene. With Jay [in Modern Family], I didn’t do anything.
Vergara shared her concerns about how her body would appear on screen,
I’m 50! I mean, when I was 30, I wouldn’t have worried. I think I was worried that I was going to look horrific. I was like, ‘Where are they shooting me? The cellulite? From the side. Uh, I’m vain, I guess. That one kept me awake, I think.’
Rather than glamorizing the moment, Vergara’s reflection highlights the real pressures faced by actors, especially women, as they navigate vulnerability on screen. She praised director Andrés Baiz for creating a respectful and supportive environment on set. “He made me feel super comfortable,” she said, and the scene was handled tastefully.
Beyond her on-screen role, Vergara has also been open about her views on aging and self-image. She expressed interest in undergoing cosmetic procedures when she feels ready, not out of pressure, but on her own terms.
Following her 2023 split from actor Joe Manganiello, Vergara appears to be embracing her independence, her career, and her personal evolution. Whether she’s stripping down for a sun-kissed selfie or transforming herself for a dramatic role, Sofía Vergara remains an influential force in entertainment, unfiltered, unbothered, and undeniably herself.
