When we talk about some of the biggest WWE superstars in the modern scene, many names can be put on the list. The likes of Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and many more will surely go down as someone who bring a lot to the table. However, none can come close to or even match the charisma of Roman Reigns.
Ever since he became The Head of the Table, every fan has acknowledged him as the greatest wrestling persona. Hence, his earning the fattest paycheck in the company was the most sensible news that fans read in a long time.
However, learning that the OTC earned only $15 million annually was hard to believe. Luckily, Hugo Savinovich explained his contract, which still makes the WWE star’s earnings feel like a modest sum, from the fans’ perspective.
Roman Reigns’ WWE contract looks like a bargain?
There’s no denying that under the creative reign of Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE has gained a massive resurgence in popularity, and he has been actively making efforts to improve the standard of living of its locker room talent, which includes a bigger paycheck and a safer in-ring experience.

This was possible with more engaging storylines and signing promising wrestlers that would glue the viewers to their screens. That said, ahead of WrestleMania 41, a list was released featuring the 3 biggest attractions of the wrestling promotion brand. The #1 spot was claimed by the OTC, Roman Reigns, who earned a paycheck as huge as his stature.
However, many details were not available about his contract. Recently, while speaking on Lucha Libre Online, the former WWE commentator, Hugo Savinovich, pointed out that the hosts of The Last World podcast had interesting insights about Reigns’ future in the company and TKO executives carefully handling his contract. He said,
On the Last Word podcast, featuring Jonathan Coachman and Tommy Carlucci, they revealed some shocking news. They said TKO executives are reconsidering how to handle Roman Reigns. While they won’t outright release him, he won’t be making $15 million per year anymore.
Here comes the more interesting part: Savinovich explained that the former Undisputed Champion has a base salary of $5 million but gets a bonus from PPV matches, the WWE 2K game, promotional events, and merchandise sales, where he receives 30% from sales.

There are “special bonuses” for international shows like the one in Saudi Arabia, and even receiving a cut from the ticket sales. All these perks add an additional $10 million to his salary. However, that was not all, because Savinovich said that Roman Reigns was a “valuable brand” outside WWE, too. He pointed out that the performer receives numerous deals, but everything has to go through the company. He said,
Even outside WWE, Roman is a valuable brand. He has agents, but deals still go through WWE, which takes a percentage. However, the bulk of the money goes to Roman Reigns. Right now, there’s talk of him being cast in another Hollywood film. And because he’s under WWE contract, WWE still takes their cut. But Roman still walks away with millions.
The Spanish commentator emphasized how Reigns is in talks to star in the Street Fighter film adaptation, and even sponsorship posts that add a few more million to his annual income. However, TKO is cutting corners, which makes the board say, “Roman’s not around full-time. Why are we paying him so much?” Thus, his contract will be renegotiated.
The WWE fans are taken aback by Roman Reigns’ current contract
The former member of SHIELD has come a long way, and he is not only the face of the company but also the favorite name of the announcers. This was evident during his transition to becoming a heel and arguably having the greatest title reign of 1316 days.

As a result, when fans learned that their Tribal Chief earned only $15 million per year, they could not believe it. After all, he brings a fresh and interesting narrative to the table. Chaos took place on X, where the fans called it “insanity” and mentioned that things should change for the better, while others called the TKO board “cheap.” The users tweeted,
Exactly like wtf are we even talking about here. With what he’s bringing right now 15 million dollars for that is insanity and they know it. Which is why this got out and honestly needs to change asap.
He should at the very least be getting 30 million dollars. ☝🏽 https://t.co/kmmG4cE47G

I mean TKO pays their average UFC fighters like 50k per fight not surprised they think Roman is overpaid

Agree. Seen the ticket prices lately and the weekly ratings since he’s been on hiatus? @WWERomanReigns is worth at least double if not more.

The Grand Slam Champion has not made an appearance since his defeat at WrestleMania 41 by his bitter rival, Seth Rollins, thanks to the grueling betrayal from his Wiseman, Paul Heyman. However, Michael Cole’s hint earlier this week on Monday Night RAW has assured the fans that he will return at Money in the Bank to stop Seth Rollins.
Money in the Bank will take place on June 7, 2025, streaming exclusively on Peacock in the United States and on Netflix everywhere else.
