The 2025 Money in the Bank has been one of the most lackluster premium live events in the history of WWE. But what stole the limelight was how R-Truth returned in the dying minutes of the match to cost Cena from stealing another victory over Rhodes and team. The return shocked the fans and became the most-watched clip of the PPV.
However, the return would have never been possible in the first place if WWE had not accepted one major condition in Truth’s new contract.
R-Truth had a very specific request to return to WWE
Just days after the news of R-Truth getting released from WWE, the superstar made a shocking return in last night’s pay-per-view, Money in the Bank. The former US Champion stopped John Cena from recreating his WrestleMania 41 moment, where he won the Undisputed WWE title by knocking out Cody Rhodes.
The return was met with one of the loudest pops and made the fans forget that the arena was nearly empty during the majority of the show. Even Paul “Triple H” could not help but talk about the shocker in the post-match conference via Instagram, saying, “You enjoying the show? All part of the show.”
But what surprised the fans was how the superstar scrapped his in-ring name and was listed with his real name, “Ron Killings.” According to reports from Wrestling Observer via WrestleTalk (@WrestleTalk_TV), R-Truth had one important request to return to the company. This change in the alias was to ensure that Ron Killings would be an established brand outside of World Wrestling Entertainment.
This meant that if another similar incident occurred in the near future that forced his exit, he could keep using his real name, which is known in the entertainment wrestling scene. The tweet wrote,
Ron Killings did ask for the name change to his real name as part of his new deal as many had suspected. The advantage is that when the new deal ends he will have had TV time as Ron Killings and can then go straight to using that name on indies and for personal appearances.
The insider report comes following the tense situation where Christopher Killings, the son of Truth, called out the CCO on his Instagram Story via WrestleOps on X. Some even felt it was a desperate move from The King to save face. Additionally, several WWE superstars expressed solidarity with the unjustified release, some even expressing their detest for the managerial decision.

The return of R-Truth days after the heartbreaking news is perhaps one of the greatest things happening in the wrestling industry, where everyone backed the most loved guy in the world’s largest wrestling promotion brand. The return marked the victory of the fans and their success in the “We Want Truth” movement.

Indeed, a clever move from Killings, but learning from the situation, WWE and TKO will not rethink releasing him for a long time, and they might just raise a toast on his return and even ask him to retire here in the company.
Now, fans would be eager to hear from the man of the hour tomorrow on Monday Night RAW, where he will explain his attack on John Cena and give his version of what convinced him to return to the company.
