King Charles has been trying to distance himself from his brother ever since the damning accusations from the late Virginia Giuffre came to light. But no matter how hard Charles may try to shake him, Prince Andrew is clinging on for dear life.
The Prince is stubborn, you have to give him that, he’s maintained his innocence although many are not convinced. His actions have led many to come to the conclusion that he is in some way guilty (although this has never been proven definitively as Giuffre settled with the Prince for an undisclosed amount), Andrew’s refusal to speak with authorities and his choice to stop travelling for fear of being apprehended by the FBI certainly doesn’t scream “innocent.”
However, it seems his own family aren’t exactly lining up to support him. In fact, most of them seem to want rid of him which is why Charles is trying to kick him out of his £30 million (about $40 million) mansion. Seeing as Andrew is convinced he has done no wrong he sees no reason to give up the royal lodge, a friend of the Prince’s backed him up, saying that Charles’ decision to try and force his brother out of the lodge “makes no sense.”
That’s not the only reason Andrew won’t leave
But it turns out Andrew isn’t just being stubborn to prove his innocence. According to property buying agent Robin Edwards, Andrew has been offered an alternative property: Frogmore Cottage, the home which once belonged to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. But the Prince has refused it because he doesn’t think it’s good enough for him.
“However, he has refused to leave his lavish mansion and move to the significantly smaller Frogmore Cottage, believing it to be not grand enough for him.”
Frogmore is a quaint but pretty little home that has everything one could wish for in a home. Most ordinary people would kill for such a place as that to call their home, and yet Andrew apparently thinks it is somehow beneath him because it isn’t up to his insanely high royal standards.
But then again, should we expect any less from a man who’s always had everything he could ever want? Andrew has had a life of luxury, his family even paid to make Giuffre’s allegations go away, so it’s no surprise someone as spoiled as he should throw a tantrum at the thought of having to live in a lovely (but significantly smaller) home.
Charles tried to force his brother out last year by cutting off Andrews royal allowance in an attempt to make paying for the property maintenance impossible. However, the stubborn Prince found a way to make money through his rich contacts. He also hired a budget security to guard the property. It’s not clear where Andrew is getting his funds from.
