One Piece: Oda Really Can’t Redeem Dragon Anymore After Horrific Ginny Reveal in Episode 1132

One Piece anime has been on a roll ever since it made a return. The series has dropped banger episodes, and the highlight of it all is the disheartening flashback of Bartholomew Kuma. This flashback tells the sad story of Kuma, who struggled through his entire life.

Among the struggles he faced, the most recent one that was shown was his suffering through the loss of Ginny. However, she does make a return, but her comeback is short-lived as she was diagnosed with a disease that killed her.

It is one of the most heartbreaking deaths in One Piece, but what it really hints at is Dragon’s insignificance. He is the Commander of the Revolutionary Army, and Ginny was a crucial part of it, but he didn’t take any action.

Kuma lost Ginny, and it was truly devastating

It has been over three episodes since Kuma’s flashback started in One Piece, and each of these episodes is filled with emotional twists and turns that reflect Kuma’s pain as a character. From losing his parents to being tortured as a slave, Kuma had gone through the worst suffering in One Piece, and it only covers half of his life within the story.

The latest episode saw Kuma going through a self-destruct process as he is struggling to cope with the loss of Ginny, who was kidnapped by a Celestial Dragon. During the episode, it is revealed that it has been two years since Ginny was kidnapped. Unfortunately, none of them have been able to put in any effort to locate her, and they are simply moving on with their lives.

However, things change when they get a call from Ginny, who explains to them that because she got diagnosed with Sapphire Scale, the Celestial Dragon let her go. Before Kuma could reach her, Ginny passed away and left her child in Kuma’s care. This was definitely the saddest moment throughout the entire One Piece episode.

While Ginny’s death is certainly a sad moment in One Piece, what it reflects more is Dragon’s inability to save her. Ginny was one of the most significant members of the Revolutionary Army, and the story didn’t focus on any steps that Dragon took to search for her or retrieve her from the Celestial Dragon, who ordered her kidnapping in One Piece.

There is no justification behind it because, despite the hype that is created around Mariejois (the land of the Celestial Dragons), it is quite penetrable.

In fact, Fisher Tiger alone managed to sneak in and save a plethora of slaves that were captured by the World Government. Therefore, Dragon could have easily executed a sneak attack and saved Ginny in One Piece.

Although it may not be Eiichiro Oda’s intention to portray Dragon in a negative image where he is incapable of saving one of his soldiers, but after this development, it will be very difficult to rectify his image. Thus, the One Piece mangaka needs to plan Dragon’s next step very carefully, as he could lose all the image that he has built over the years.

One Piece is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
