Love Is Blind has brought together several couples, but not many have found their happily ever afters despite their desperation to find love. Now, the latest couple to call it quits is Lydia Velez Gonzalez and James ‘Milton’ Johnson IV, season 5’s only married couple.
After three years of marriage, Lydia revealed this unhappy news on Love Is Blind alum AD Smith’s podcast, What’s the Reality? Revealing some shocking details about their time together, including being asked to sign an NDA, fans are not as shocked to see their fractured fairy tale.
Love Is Blind Season 5’s only couple is divorcing
On June 11, 2025, Love Is Blind Season 5 star Lydia Velez Gonzalez announced her divorce from Milton Johnson, dropping bombshells about his demand for an NDA before signing divorce papers.
Lydia and Milton, Love Is Blind’s sole Season 5 success, married in May 2022 after an unexpected bond over geology. Their romance seemed solid but as Lydia revealed on the What’s the Reality? podcast, cracks began to appear only within the first six months after their marriage, when Milton allegedly refused to cut off one of his exes.
She also found proof from several women whom her husband seemed to have been hitting on in bars and even allegedly invited one woman back to his hotel room at 4 in the morning. That was it for her, and she decided to step away after suffering in silence for a long time.
When she asked her husband for a divorce in March, he reportedly told her that she was too f**king stupid and an untrustworthy person.
It wasn’t one thing. It was a layer of situations and things that kept piling up. When I told him, ‘Hey, I’ll let you know when the divorce papers are ready, ‘his response was, ‘I’m not going to sign the papers unless there’s an NDA.’ I’ve been quiet for too long. I needed to share my thoughts and my experience because what I’ve been suffering in silence has been too much for me to be quiet and keep quiet.
She also went on to claim that her soon-to-be ex-husband has been giving her the silent treatment ever since she asked him for a divorce. Stating that she doesn’t believe he loves her, the reality TV star remarked that she still loves him but cannot keep being in a place where she no longer feels wanted.
Things have always been rocky between Lydia and Milton
When Lydia Velez Gonzalez and James ‘Milton’ Johnson IV decided to get married after falling in love on Netflix’s Season 5 of Love Is Blind, fans had apprehensions about their bond. Many believed Milton was not the right choice for Lydia and that they were moving too fast. Well, Lydia now believes that the internet was right all along, as she revealed on What’s the Reality? podcast.
While things between them got rocky within the first six months of their marriage, it only got worse from there. Apart from infidelity on her husband’s side, it was his lack of emotional availability, maturity, support, and communication that made her doubt their bond.
When she confronted her husband about not cutting off his ex, he allegedly flipped on her and accused her of invading his privacy, even going on to threaten to throw her out on the streets after one particularly bad fight between them. Even couples therapy did not seem to work as he remained pretty evasive towards her, leaving her feeling shut off and so alone.
Then when she was diagnosed with the chronic pain condition called Fibromyalgia and wanted to take a medical leave from her work, her husband allegedly told her, ‘You’re not dying, you just have to eat healthy and work out.’ Well, Milton has yet to offer any remarks about their tragic fallout, but fans seem to be on Lydia’s side and admire her courage.
