The 2025 BET Awards ceremony, which is held to acknowledge and honor people in Black culture, played out on June 9, and boy, did it deliver. While bringing about some of the most outstanding Black talents to the stage was one thing, it also didn’t hold back on Kevin Hart’s comedy and roasting and some super awkward reactions.
For one, Hart, of course, nailed it while taking the stage by perfectly balancing swagger and comedy. But things got really painful to witness when he introduced Kai Cenat and the now-disgraced music mogul P Diddy’s old friend Druski to the stage to clown them with jokes, one of which had Lizzo looking as uncomfortable as ever.

While the live performances of some of the most commendable talents in Black history were ones to steal the show, other moments being highlighted from the recently held 2025 BET Awards ceremony were none other than the ones featuring Kevin Hart’s hosting. Like when he brought Kai Cenat and Druski to the stage (via X).
His clowning them, of course, was a notable moment to witness as Hart tried to explain to them that they needed to understand and maintain ‘professionalism’ since he was trying to “bring y’all out here and give y’all an opportunity to get to the next stage, the next level.” Then Hart asked them to host by reading through the teleprompter.
This made everything even more hilarious as Kai Cenat failed to understand and read properly, while Druski, on the other hand, claimed he couldn’t read from it since he “can’t see that far.” But while this had Hart taking back control, it also had him making a joke about Druski not being able to read because of the ‘diabetes.’
Before that, backstage, Hart was seen teasing him about Ozempic, which is a prescription diabetes medication, mixed with energy drinks, warning, “Don’t mix his energy drinks with Ozempic.” (via Complex.) Back on the stage, the cameras showed Druski reiterating with “I ain’t got diabetes, man!” But the concerning reaction was Lizzo’s.
As the camera zoomed in on her, the About Damn Time singer was seen looking uncomfortable as ever as she twisted in her seat with her mouth hung open, almost like she was surprised or offended by the joke. Notably, Lizzo has previously battled with rumors of using meds like Ozempic for weight loss, which she clapped back on (per PEOPLE).

Well, The 2025 BET Awards truly served up a masterclass in Black excellence, but it’s clear that it was Hart’s razor-sharp wit that set the stage ablaze — especially with his playful jabs at Kai and Druski, which stole the show with Lizzo’s jaw-dropping reaction!
