Even Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s inner circle can’t determine the status of their relationship.
“It’s true they’re spending time apart,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “Their friends don’t know if they are permanently split.”
The insider notes, however, that “this isn’t the first time” Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, have taken space in their romance.
“The first time they broke up it was about two years after they got together,” the source adds. “It’s happened a few times, but they’ve always worked it out before.”
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Have Been ‘Spending More and More Time Apart’
News broke on Tuesday, June 10, that Perry and Bloom’s relationship had hit a rough patch.
“They have been spending more and more time apart,” a second source told Us at the time. “They’ve grown apart and aren’t living the same lives anymore.”
An additional insider explained that Bloom has kept his and Perry’s issues “close to the vest,” adding that the actor has been “out and about more often” without Perry, who is currently on her worldwide Lifetimes Tour.
“Katy has been very busy working, and they are apart often,” the source added. “That has caused tension.”
After news broke of his and Perry’s fractured bond, Bloom appeared on the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and was seemingly in good spirits. The Pirates of the Caribbean star had his dog Biggie Smalls beside him, who he joked was an “emotional support animal.”
“Because I’m very emotional right now,” he joked to the host.
Perry and Bloom started dating after meeting at a 2016 Golden Globes after party. They briefly called off their romance after less than a year.
“We weren’t really in it from day one,” Perry later explained of her and Bloom’s brief breakup during a 2024 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “He was in a way because he had just done a time of celibacy and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship and I was just like, ‘I can’t do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond.’”

In 2018, Bloom and Perry rekindled their romance. Bloom popped the question one year later on Valentine’s Day. They welcomed daughter Daisy Dove in August 2020. (In addition to Daisy, Bloom is the father of son Flynn, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Miranda Kerr in January 2011.)
While Bloom and Perry have yet to tie the knot, the pop star shared that she and her partner have taken extra measures to keep their relationship strong — including couple’s therapy.
“Orlando and I’s initials are O.K.,” the “Wide Awake” singer wrote via Instagram in May 2023, alongside a photo of herself and the Carnival Row alum. “We continuously put in the work to make sure they aren’t 
K.O.. Find yourself a partner that will go down to the mat with you and get back up every time.”
