Seth Rollins’ appearance at WWE Night of Champions was just a rumor until now. John Cena might have just confirmed it by name-dropping Rollins twice on the latest SmackDown episode. John Cena told CM Punk that he used Rollins’ hatred to gain the upper hand and win against both Punk and Rollins at this year’s Elimination Chamber. Then, he doubled down by saying Rollins would never cash in on him.
This hints at the fact that Rollins might play a major role in Cena’s farewell storyline and could shake up the outcome at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. Plus, Rollins has a long-standing beef with CM Punk, so he might just be looking to ruin Punk’s moment, too.
Triple H’s handling of John Cena’s farewell storyline hasn’t been the best so far, but one thing’s for sure: the buildup to Night of Champions is packed with drama. Seth Rollins’ decision to cash in at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia might have a lot to do with his long-standing beef with CM Punk. These two have real-life tensions and absolutely no love lost between them. Their feud kicked off when Punk trashed the company during his time away, which didn’t sit well with Rollins.
Since then, they’ve been at each other’s throats, making them two of the biggest rivals in WWE today. Triple H has a golden opportunity to turn this into something special. Cena’s claim that Rollins won’t attack him could even hint at a possible alliance between the two.
With Triple H struggling to win back fan trust, he needs to make Night of Champions must-watch TV. Fans are already hyped for Punk vs. Cena, but if Rollins and Ron Killings get thrown into the mix, it could be the game-changer Triple H desperately needs.
