But Cena couldn’t enjoy a long championship reign as just a few weeks later, Cena lost the championship title to Bray Wyatt in the Elimination Chamber that year. Despite a short reign, that championship win was special for Cena on many grounds.

AJ Styles also opened up about the 2017 Royal Rumble match in an interview with WWE’s The Bump. Styles claimed that this was one of the best matches of his career, and he is immensely proud of that fight.
I think about this match with John Cena, and I would say, out of all the matches I’ve had, this was the best one. A lot of people don’t know this, but we never left the ring in this match. We never went outside of the ring; it was all in the ring, which is not really heard of these days. I’m really proud of that match
Styles claimed that wrestlers not leaving the ring during the fight was uncommon at that time, and it was harder for wrestlers to fight the entirety of the match inside the ring as they often ran out of ideas, making the bout repetitive and boring.
But that was not the case with Cena and Styles’ fight; they kept the audience on the edge of their seat throughout the match and amazed us with their in-ring charisma.
