HoYoVerse May Give Us a ‘Zenless Zone Zero’ Anime Adaptation Before ‘Genshin Impact’

It’s been nearly a year since HoYoVerse released Zenless Zone Zero, which added another role-playing fantasy gacha game to their roster. After the immense success of Genshin Impact, the studio has experimented with other styles, and fans are absolutely loving their projects.

Zenless Zone Zero was released on 4th July, 2024, and has been a hit amongst gamers. Players were surprised by how addictive and engaging the game is. It involves a more forgiving system than Genshin Impact and feels more like a traditional JRPG.

For the upcoming anniversary, WIT Studio created a special video for Zenless Zone Zero, causing an uproar within the HoYoVerse community. It’s been a long time since they promised an anime adaptation of Genshin Impact, but they seem to be taking on other anime projects.

Will Zenless Zone Zero receive an anime before Genshin Impact?

HoYoVerse often invests in animated short videos for its video games. We’ve seen plenty for Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Honkai Impact 3rd, and more. The creativity and quality of them are impeccable, especially how connected it makes us feel to the games. The anniversary video for Zenless Zone Zero created the same feeling.

2 years ago, the official Genshin Impact YouTube channel released a concept trailer for the video game’s anime adaptation.

HoYoVerse collaborated with Ufotable, the studio behind Demon Slayer, whose animation style has remained top-tier in the industry.

However, we haven’t received any official news about its release, despite its announcement 2 years ago. The Genshin Impact anime doesn’t even have a title yet. Despite this, they take on more anime projects under their wing, and it seems that Zenless Zone Zero might be next.

While this isn’t confirmation that WIT Studio is collaborating with HoYoVerse on a new anime adaptation, they specially brought them for the anniversary video. The studio has produced content for other games, such as Persona 3 Reload.

It also wouldn’t be terrible if it did create a Zenless Zone Zero anime adaptation. Fans of the video game seem to want it, but also joke that it will release before the Genshin Impact anime.

WIT Studio is home to several successful anime, like Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, Spy x Family, and are currently handling the One Piece remake. It would definitely do justice to Zenless Zone Zero.

Zenless Zone Zero would be a great anime, but Wit Studio has enough on its plate

The animation studio is quite notorious for having to give up its projects to other studios. They handled Attack on Titan for three seasons and Vinland Saga for one before MAPPA had to take over.

Knowing this, will WIT Studio have enough manpower and resources to animate Zenless Zone Zero? If the animation style is inconsistent, fans might end up being displeased.

There’s also the question of whether an anime series for Zenless Zone Zero is necessary at this stage. Like previously mentioned, the game has only been around for a year. It hasn’t been a fleshed-out story yet, unlike Genshin Impact, which is nearing its final stages.

If Zenless Zone Zero does indeed receive an anime earlier, that would be both a surprise and a disappointment. Ufotable does have its hands full with the Demon Slayer movie trilogy. Anime adaptations also take years to create, so we might have to wait for much longer.
