During her time as The Bachelorette, Hannah Brown gave fans some memorable moments. From the Rose Ceremony where she moved the pedestal to avoid Luke, to her windmill confession that caught us all off guard, she’s one of the most memorable leads of the show. And now, she’s giving fans a treat in a whole different way.
After releasing her first novel, Mistakes We Never Made, in May 2024, Brown is getting ready to release her second book, titled The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain.
The book, which comes out later this month on June 24, will follow the story of Sybil, the runaway bride from the first book.
“This book shows a different side to me, drawing from my own romantic rollercoasters and how I’ve learned to figure out what I truly want and need,” Brown said in her book announcement on Instagram. “Releasing Sybil’s story right before my own wedding feels like another one of those perfect twists of fate that this book explores. ✨”
‘The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain’ by Hannah Brown
The novel follows Sybil as she vacations to the Starling Ranch Inn, a tropical paradise she was initially supposed to honeymoon in with her then-fiancé Jamie. But after the wedding didn’t go as planned, she decides to go on a solo vacation instead.
“Sybil’s expecting mai tais, med spas and me-time, so she nearly plunges backwards into the infinity pool when she sees that Jamie has had the same idea!” the description reads. “His family business is thinking of buying the resort, so he’s here with a gorgeous, tangerine bikini-clad ‘colleague’ to give the property a once-over.”
That’s when she makes up a lie (that she’s at the hotel with her new boyfriend), and her other ex-fiancé, Sebastian, walks right in. “Seb’s always up for a good time, and happy to play along …sparking unexpected jealousy in Jamie,” the description reads.
“From snorkeling snafus to stunning vistas to staff parties at the beach, Sybil does her best to juggle two ex-fiancés, but it’s becoming clear that her past of broken promises must be reckoned with once and for all—including that first fiancé, Liam, the one she never talks about…”
In an excerpt shared with People, Sybil and Jamie share a candid heart-to-heart.
“His eyes meet mine, and my pulse quickens. “I just wish—”
“What?” I try to breathe, but the air feels trapped in my lungs. Does he wish what I wish?
Jamie looks at me, fondness and something like regret in his warm brown eyes. “I wish I had started listening to my instincts sooner.” He pauses, his eyes studying my face.
“How come?”
“If I had, we would be married right now, Sybil Rain.” The directness of it sends a shiver through me. Does this mean he regrets being with Genevieve? Or, is it possible, maybe, somehow, that they really are just colleagues like he said? I feel so overwhelmed and confused—and yet, full of want. I want this to be true. I want all of it to be true.
