Fallout: New Vegas Fan Finds Out Brilliant Pip-Boy Detail 12 Years After Playing the Game

We all can agree that Fallout: New Vegas is the best entry in the post-apocalyptic franchise. It’s been 14 years since the release of the RPG, and it has aged quite well in the intervening years. Even though we’ve seen new Fallout entries, gamers keep coming back to New Vegas again and again.

To this day, we keep seeing New Vegas players making new realizations and finding fresh details. It’s all thanks to Obsidian Entertainment’s incredible attention to the game. However, one New Vegas player has found a shocking Pip-Boy detail in the RPG, which might be the biggest discovery made in the RPG so far.

Fallout: New Vegas player unveils mind-boggling Pip-Boy detail

The Pip-Boy is a wrist-mounted computer that’s basically the staple of the Fallout series. It’s called Personal Information Processor (PIP) and was crafted by RobCo Industries, and its later versions were developed by both Vault-Tech Industries and RobCo. Without this item, adventuring through the Mojave Wasteland would be quite a difficult challenge, but did you know that it has a subtle detail on the touchscreen?

User Bigfoot_Samurai has taken to r/Fallout and shared a mind-blowing detail about Pip-Boy in New Vegas. Even though they’ve been playing the game for a decade at this point, the player has never noticed the print mark on the Pip-Boy screen. It’s not just them; a lot of players in the comments section never noticed this detail either.

Whose fingerprint is this? Well, we really don’t know. It could be the Courier or Doc Mitchell, as he’s the one who gives the Courier his Pip-Boy after saving him in the post-apocalyptic world. Whoever it is definitely thought that the Pip-Boy is a touchscreen device, which isn’t the case, really, as it works with combinations of a toggle switch, buttons, and wheels.

This isn’t the only strange fingerprint you’ll encounter in New Vegas. If you didn’t know, Mr. House also uses the Pip-Boy screen texture for his computer screen, where a giant fingerprint can be spotted. Does this imply that there are giants in the Mojave Wasteland who are using the Lucky 38 House terminal as a Pip-Boy? It could be the case; anything is possible in the Fallout verse.

Fallout: New Vegas deserves a remaster as well

Back in April 2025, Bethesda shadowdropped the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, which took the entire gaming world by storm. Bethesda and Virtuous Studios did a fantastic job on the project, and now, the rumors suggest that Fallout 3 might get a similar remaster in the near future.

However, Bethesda should also consider giving New Vegas the remaster treatment. Even though the RPG has aged like fine wine, cracks are starting to show, and its visuals simply don’t hold up compared to modern games. What’s worse are the game’s shooting mechanics, which feel like you’re using a Nerf gun.

It’s not a surprise that New Vegas suffered from terrible shooting, as it was Obsidian’s first attempt at FPS games. The developers simply couldn’t find the right balance between gunplay and RPG mechanics. Seriously, it doesn’t make any sense to tie accuracy with perks and skills, as shooting feels unnatural at lower levels.
