Expedition 33 Just Fixed Its Most Broken Weapon, and You Should Definitely Get Your Hands on It

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players have been experimenting with a wide variety of powerful builds, some focusing on elemental damage, others on parry mastery or pure agility. One particularly devastating build centers around the character Verso and his unique weapon, Simoso.

Unfortunately, until now, this weapon was more broken than overpowered: equipping it caused severe FPS drops due to a memory leak, making it virtually unusable. But with the release of Patch 1.3.0, the developers have finally fixed this critical issue, making the weapon essential.

From lag machine to overpowered beast: Simoso finally works in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Before Patch 1.3.0, Simoso was a weapon most players wanted but avoided due to a very simple but broken reason. A brutal memory leak that tanked performance, dropping FPS dramatically and often causing the game to stutter, especially during heavy combat.

It was a serious disruption, making battles feel like slideshow presentations and forcing even the most hardcore players to shelve the weapon entirely. Thankfully, the latest update (patch 1.3.0) has resolved the issue entirely.

Simoso now runs smoothly, allowing players to tap into the weapon’s full potential without frying their framerate. What makes this such a game-changer is how well it synergizes with Verso’s light damage build.

The weapon then deals Light-type damage on any damage dealt with skills, which is already Verso’s partial affinity, but now it makes everything he does consistent and massively amplified through Light-type scaling.

On top of that, there’s a chance to inflict Burn (20% chance), and since many of Verso’s skills hit multiple times, higher chance of applying burn and stacking it. Now, for the first time, it’s actually playable. If you’ve been sleeping on Verso, now’s the time to wake up.

How to find Simoso and why it’s worth the grind

To get your hands on Simoso, you’ll need to defeat Simon in The Abyss. This area is hidden deep within Renoir’s Drafts, which you can only reach after acquiring Esquie’s underwater swimming ability.

Head to the waters just north of Old Lumiere, dive in, and navigate through Renoir’s Drafts to reach the Abyss. Simon is a tough fight, but it’s absolutely worth it. After the defeat, Simon gives the weapon to Verso as a parting gift.

It drops at level 33, and while it cannot be upgraded, it’s already one of the most powerful weapons in the game. If players decided to dedicate their points to make Verso 99 Vitality and 99 Agility, Simoso boasts a Power rating of 8476, which is staggering.

Let’s talk passives. The biggest one? If Verso is Rank A or higher, he literally cannot die. That’s not hyperbole; it makes him unkillable, which completely redefines high-risk fights and boss strategies. Combine this with doing Light damage and burn synergy, and you’ve got a monster of a build.

With Verso hitting multiple times, it’s easier to get the burn effect and its stacks. This is especially great if you run alongside Maelle, whose Skills pair excellently with burn effects.

If you haven’t already cleared The Abyss, now’s the time. The game’s most broken weapon is finally fixed, and it might just become your new main.
