The Dragon Ball franchise is vast, extending its media beyond manga and anime adaptations. The fandom has enough entertainment to last decades, and the series will probably still go strong once you’ve finished exploring every inch.

It was formerly known as Dragon Ball Project: Multi, but only recently revealed its actual title on 6th June, 2025. Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra abandons the typical storyline and involves a multiplayer online team-based 4v4 battle, with several platforms to play on.

Like most online multiplayer games, this video game will allow you to choose which Dragon Ball character to play as from their roster. So far, they have added Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Majin Buu, Cooler, Android 18, Krillin, Gohan, and more. Considering the nature of the game, they are likely to add more as the game progresses.
The characters are also divided into three classes: tank, damage, and technical. Tanks are the characters with the most health and can endure the most damage. Damage characters are pretty straightforward; they deal the damage. Lastly, technical characters are the supports who will heal and buff the rest. As examples, we know Goku will be in the damage class, while Vegeta is a tank.
The only limitation is that it’s only 4 players on each team, which doesn’t give a lot of room for a balanced combination. It’s best to choose wisely which character you need to play as, rather than going for your favorite.

The main goal of Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is to grab the Dragon Ball by eliminating the Gods of Destruction. There’s also a Land Grab mode where players will have to hold three lands on the map they’ve spawned in to generate points. The first team to gain 500 points wins.
The most exciting update for Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is the Network Test that’s now live, starting from 12th June, 2025 to 16th June, 2025. Many players across the world are getting to test the game ahead of launch.
Where and when can you play Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra?
Since it’s an online multiplayer game rather than story-based, Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is also the most accessible video game in the franchise. It’s available across most platforms: Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. It supports crossplay in case you and your friends don’t have the same devices.
The best part of Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra that makes it even more accessible and easy is that it’s completely free-to-play. There might be purchases in the game for skins and unique animations, but you don’t need those to be better at the game.
Bandai Namco Entertainment hasn’t announced the full launch date yet, but it will most likely release in late 2025 or early 2026.
For now, you can join the open Network Test and see how the game feels beforehand. It also has a Discord Server where you can interact with other fans and keep updated about the game.
