Did We Just Get a Hollow Knight: Silksong Release Window? Major Leak Says Yes

Hollow Knight: Silksong has become gaming’s most notorious ghost story. Announced in February 2019, Team Cherry’s sequel has haunted the Metroidvania community for over six years with promises, silence, and the occasional glimpse of gameplay footage.

But the latest leak might finally put an end to the endless “Silksong when?” memes. A credible industry insider has dropped information that could narrow down the release window to a specific month, exactly four months from today as of writing.

New leak connects all the dots and then some

The recent wave of gaming showcases delivered disappointment after disappointment for Hollow Knight fans. Sony’s State of Play ignored the game entirely. Summer Game Fest saw Geoff Keighley deliver a particularly cruel joke, reading a fake letter from Deadpool requesting to “skip that Silksong trailer” before unveiling Deadpool VR instead.

Then came Xbox Games Showcase, which finally offered something substantial. Microsoft revealed their partnership with Asus ROG for the Xbox Ally handheld, and Silksong was prominently featured in the announcement:

Xbox president Sarah Bond even went so far as to confirm that the game would be “available at launch and in Game Pass when the Ally releases later this year.” And now, credible Spanish leaker eXtas1s has provided the missing piece of this puzzle.

According to their information, the ROG Xbox Ally is targeting a mid-October 2025 launch, with pre-orders opening in August. If Silksong is indeed launching alongside the handheld as Microsoft suggested, that puts the game’s release at mid-October.

The timing makes perfect sense when you consider Team Cherry marketing manager Matthew ‘Leth’ Griffin’s recent clarification on the official Hollow Knight Discord.

He confirmed Silksong would arrive “before Holiday” and emphasized the game is “not tied to a console release.” This statement initially seemed to contradict Microsoft’s announcement, but it actually supports the October theory perfectly.

Why October makes more sense than anyone expected

Griffin’s clarification that Hollow Knight: Silksong isn’t tied to console releases was meant to dispel fears about Xbox exclusivity. But it inadvertently revealed something more important about timing.

If the game launches in mid-October and Xbox’s handheld arrives for “Holiday 2025” (typically November-December), then Silksong would indeed be available when the Ally launches without being dependent on it. And this creates a win-win scenario for everyone involved.

Team Cherry gets to release their game on their own timeline without hardware constraints. Microsoft gets a major title available for their handheld launch. Players get Silksong roughly four months from now instead of waiting until the holiday shopping season.

The October window also aligns with other circumstantial evidence. The game (as per IGN) will be playable at Australia’s National Museum of Screen Culture in Melbourne starting September 18. Having a public demo just weeks before launch would be typical marketing timing for a major release.

So, after six years of waiting, speculation, and community meltdowns, the pieces are finally falling into place. Mid-October 2025 is the most credible release window Silksong has ever had, backed by multiple sources and logical reasoning rather than wishful thinking. Sigh!
