PREMIER LEAGUE clubs have flooded the free agents market with plenty of talent this summer.

A whopping 182 players have their contracts expiring at the end of the month.

Some players, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jorginho and Kieran Tierney, have already found new homes.

However, there are plenty still on the hunt for a deal at a new club.

Veterans such as Kevin De Bruyne and Christian Eriksen will be hoping to find new clubs before next season starts.

De Bruyne is undoubtedly the biggest star without a club from the Premier League.

The Manchester City legend has won it all in England during his decade at the Etihad.

He has already shown he still has plenty to offer as he netted Belgium‘s winner against Wales this week.

It is believed that the midfielder will have his future sorted quickly, with Serie A giants Napoli his likely destination.

Ashley Young, 39, is another notable addition to the free agents list.

The 39-cap England star has left Everton after two seasons and 70 appearances in all competitions.

The now-defender has a wealth of top-flight experience, having previously won titles at Manchester United.

Young starred at Old Trafford as a winger for much of his nine years at the club and earned winners’ medals in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.

Other solid defenders that are on the market include Man United’s Victor Lindelof, Wolves’ Craig Dawson and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters.

The best goalkeeper that has been let go is West Ham‘s Lukasz Fabianski.

The former Arsenal stopper was a regular for the Hammers during his seven-year stay.

However, he is now on the lookout for a new club after being displaced as the number one by Alphonse Areola.

In the midfield, there are some intriguing players who have left their clubs.

Alongside De Bruyne, creative stars such as Christian Eriksen and Pablo Sarabia are free to join new clubs.

Eriksen left Old Trafford after two years at the club while Sarabia has done the same.

Abdoulaye Doucoure is another star who is leaving Everton this summer.

The midfielder has played a key role in keeping the club in the Premier League over the last few seasons.

However, the club has opted against keeping him on as manager David Moyes looks to freshen up the team.

In attack, there are some intriguing options for clubs lacking firepower to consider signing.

Jamie Vardy left Leicester City after 200 goals in 500 appearances for the club.

The veteran forward still has something to offer as he netted nine times in the Premier League last season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another forward to hit the free agent market.

The Toffees ace has plenty of talent, having previously been valued at more than £30million.

He has seen his form dip in recent seasons with injuries hampering his game time.

But at 28 years old, there is still time for the former Sheffield United striker to get back to the heights he once showed.

‘Just traumatised him on live TV’ – Lionel Messi in very tense conversation with James Rodriguez during Argentina clash

LIONEL MESSI and James Rodriguez engaged in a heated war of words during Argentina’s battle with Colombia last night.

The Argentine superstar, 37, returned to international action despite his country having already comfortably qualified for next year’s World Cup.

Lionel Scaloni’s reigning world champions fell behind in the first half, courtesy of Luis Diaz‘s brilliant solo goal.

The match became heated in the second period, with a series of flashpoints occurring in the final 20 minutes.

Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez was sent off on 70 minutes for a high challenge on Kevin Castano.

The horror kick left Castano bleeding from his head.

In the aftermath of the incident, Messi engaged in a war of words with long-time rival James Rodriguez.

Having battled for several years while playing for their countries, they were also on opposite sides of the El Clasico Real Madrid-Barcelona divide.

The pair tried to cover their mouths during the conversation, although Argentine outlet TyC Sports claim to have made out some of their words.

They claim that Rodriguez, 33, responded to Messi’s initial comment by asking: “But why?”

The outlet then alleges that Messi said: “Yes, yes. You said we were helped in the final.

“You talk a lot…”

Messi is believed to have been referring to Argentina‘s 1-0 victory over Colombia in last year’s Copa America final.

Back in March, Rodriguez reflected on the match: “Due to external factors, I think we couldn’t have been champions.

“The referee had a big influence and didn’t award us one or two penalties.”

The former Everton and Real Madrid star, who now plays for Club Leon in Mexico, refused to be drawn on his exchange with Messi after last night’s match.

Asked about the subject, the attacking midfielder said: “What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch.”

Reflecting on the incident, one fan joked on social media: “Forget the Enzo red card. Messi just traumatized James Rodriguez on live television with his words.”

While a second wrote: “Yeah… he said some harsh words to James and it pains me cause James seems like a genuinely nice guy.”

Shortly after his exchange with Rodriguez, Messi was surprisingly substituted, despite 10-man Argentina needing a goal.

The move proved to be an inspired one, as his replacement Exequiel Palacios set up Thiago Almada’s equaliser just a few minutes later.

After the 1-1 draw, boss Scaloni revealed: “Leo wasn’t going to come off, but he ended up coming off near the end.

“He told me it was better for him to come off, and so we decided to change him.

“The good thing we always showed, with 10 men and without Messi, is that we kept looking, not giving up on a ball. That makes us very satisfied.”

Just prior to going off, Messi had been involved in an altercation with Daniel Munoz.

The former Barcelona star appeared to throw an elbow at the Crystal Palace man.

Families on Universal Credit have just 24 hours to get up to £1,000 in free cost of living cash payments

STRUGGLING households could bag cost of living payments worth up to £1,000 – but need to act fast.

There are just hours left for thousands to apply for cash that could act as a financial lifeline.

Thousands could get payments up to £1,000[/caption]

The payments are from the government’s £742million Household Support Fund being distributed by councils in England.

Local authorities have until next year to dish out their share of the fund – but once the cash is gone, it’s gone.

And many councils are already handing out the support through cash or vouchers with set windows for applications.

Residents in Portsmouth in financial hardship now have until 12pm tomorrow (June 12) to apply for an exceptional hardship payment worth up to £1,000.

People on Universal Credit and other benefits can apply but you don’t need to be.

And applications may also close early if the funds have been used up.

To qualify for the cash, you’ll need to provide evidence of your income and bank accounts.

You also need to tell authorities what you’ve tried to do to improve your financial situation and why you need help.

The exact amount you receive depends on household size -the maximum amount is for six or more of £800.

Whereas one person gets £350, two people £420, three people £500, four people 600, and five people £700.

Households deemed to be in the highest level of need can be awarded a further £200 taking total payments up to £1,000.

To apply, visit the portsmouth.gov.uk website.

Can I get help if I live outside Portsmouth?

Cash from the Household Support Fund is available to households battling financial pressures across England.

But what exactly you get will depend on your circumstances and where you live.

For example, the City of Doncaster Council is giving out up to £300 payments to families on Universal Credit.

And households in Middlesbrough can get vouchers worth up to £120.

The Household Support Fund was set up to help households cover essentials such as energy or water bills and food costs.

But, each council sets its own eligibility criteria meaning whether you qualify for help varies from one postcode to the next.

Funding is aimed at anyone who’s vulnerable or struggling to pay for essentials.

Many councils require you to be on certain benefits to qualify.

But crucially, any help you receive via the Household Support Fund won’t affect your benefit payments.

The type of help on offer varies from supermarket vouchers to direct cash payments into your bank account.

Some councils are allocating their share of the fund to community groups and charities who you have to get in touch with.

If you’re on benefits, have limited savings, or are struggling to cover food and energy bills, it’s worth seeing if you’re eligible for help.

Get in touch with your local council to see what exactly is on offer and how to apply.

Household Support Fund explained

Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements explains what you need to know about the Household Support Fund.

If you’re battling to afford energy and water bills, food or other essential items and services, the Household Support Fund can act as a vital lifeline.

The financial support is a little-known way for struggling families to get extra help with the cost of living.

Every council in England has been given a share of £421million cash by the government to distribute to local low income households.

Each local authority chooses how to pass on the support. Some offer vouchers whereas others give direct cash payments.

In many instances, the value of support is worth hundreds of pounds to individual families.

Just as the support varies between councils, so does the criteria for qualifying.

Many councils offer the help to households on selected benefits or they may base help on the level of household income.

The key is to get in touch with your local authority to see exactly what support is on offer.

And don’t delay, the scheme has been extended until April 2025 but your council may dish out their share of the Household Support Fund before this date.

Once the cash is gone, you may find they cannot provide any extra help so it’s crucial you apply as soon as possible.
