Liverpool star Andy Robertson accuses Man Utd of disrespecting ‘king’ in major transfer mistake

ANDY ROBERTSON has hit out at Manchester United for “disrespecting” Scott McTominay.

The Scottish international was sold to Napoli last summer after being deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

MAN UTD TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: All the latest deals and rumours from Old Trafford

McTominay, 28, was sold for just £25million but that fee has proved to be a bargain in Napoli’s eyes.

The midfielder has gone on to become a vital member of Antonio Conte‘s team and helped them win the Serie A title.

McTominay has also become a cult-hero and firm fan favourite thanks to his 13 goals in his debut campaign.

And Robertson has now taken aim at the Red Devils for the decision to sell.

The Liverpool star believes that the club did not show McTominay the “respect he deserves”.

He said: “I think he went over there with a point to prove.

“I think he wanted to prove Man Utd wrong and prove people in the Premier League wrong. And he’s went over there and done that pretty successfully.

“That’s credit to him, credit to his attitude and his determination to be the best version of himself. Now he’s a king over there.

“At Man Utd he probably lacked getting that run of games consistently, he was in and out and things like that.

“He probably didn’t get the respect he deserves.

“Then he goes over there, puts in a magnificent season and fair play to him, to end it with the league title.

“Scott is a winner, we see that every day in training because he sets standards, looks after himself.

“He talks to the young lads and tries to give off his experience.”

Meanwhile, Man United defender Lisandro Martinez has been linked with a reunion with McTominay.

Napoli have been monitoring the Argentine’s recovery from his ACL injury and could make a move for him this summer.

Coronation Street star gloats as ITVX goes down and slams soap awards as show fails to win

CORONATION Street star Luca Toolan mocked his soap rivals during the The British Soap Awards 2025.

The 21-year-old actor played Mason Radcliffe for two years on the ITV drama and attended soap’s big night on Thursday with his fellow Corrie stars.

The actor poked fun at ITV’s transmission issues[/caption]

Like many people trying to tune in to the big night, Luca noticed the transmission on ITVX was not working and used the opportunity to poke fun at Corrie’s competitors.

The programme was delayed by seven minutes with just a message from the broadcaster, that read “we’re sorry for the disruption,” on top of a black screen.

Luca took a photo of a screen showing the error message and posted it to his Instagram stories.

“Oh no what a shame, now nobody can see me and all of Corrie win all of the awards!” he wrote.

But Luca was later forced to eat his words, as Corrie went home empty-handed.

He was even spotted by eagle-eyed ITV viewers looking disappointed after Corrie lost an award.

Luca looked upset when BBC rival EastEnders scooped the award for Best Single Episode.

The actor’s chances of picking up an award were dashed when it was announced that EastEnders’ special flashback episode about Phil Mitchell’s Psychosis had won.

Those watching at home claimed Luca looked “furious” with the result.

One wrote: “The Mason actor didn’t look too happy there.”

“Oh no! Luca Toolan looked gutted,” a second said.

Luca’s character Mason was tragically killed off during the nominated episode.

Shocking scenes saw Mason attacked by his brothers and flee – but the thugs chased him down.

And when Dylan tried to intervene – bringing Mason’s knife – it was taken from him and used to stab Mason.

He stumbled into the playground and hallucinated a future where he reunited with Betsy and planned for his new life in Germany.

Rushed to hospital with a weeping Betsy and Abi with him, the doctors battled to save his life.

But sadly there was nothing they could do and Mason died in the hospital leaving Betsy devastated.

BBC rival EastEnders swept the board after collecting a total of eight gongs in its 40th anniversary year – more than double its nearest rival, Channel 4’s Hollyoaks who got three awards.

Famous fast food chain to shut its LAST branch in UK after being ‘forced into liquidation’ with £400k debt

THE LAST branch of a famous fast food chain is set to shut its doors after being “forced into liquidation” with £400k debt.

The unique restaurant went viral back in 2022 with its performative staff being purposely rude to guests.

The chain will now close its last restaurant at the end of this month[/caption]

Karen’s diner on White Lion Street in London’s Islington will close at the end of June after trading for two years.

It’s the restaurant’s last remaining venue in the UK and is regularly described as one of the most memorable and bizarre dining experiences in the capital.

With their deliberately rude waiters, Karen’s has racked up millions of views on TikTok with clips of them insulting customers.

Their website describes it as an “absurdly fun experience” where you are “greeted and waited upon by rude waiters and forced to play a variety of stupid games”.

The unique eatery was inspired by the popular internet meme of “being a Karen“.

This meme references people who love to take their anger out on retail staff and people who typically work in customer service establishments.

The closure of their last UK branch represents a wider shift for the company as it moves away from permanent venues altogether.

They are now looking to establish pop-ups at venues throughout the South of England.

But until then, Karen’s will be serving up their trademark sass in Islington until the end of the month.

A decision not to renew the site on White Lion Street was made earlier this year.

The announcement from Karen’s said they had “enjoyed being rude to thousands of its customers”.

But they cited an increase in fixed costs, including business rates, for the closure of its final London location.

It comes as Viral Ventures UK Ltd, the parent company of Karen’s Diner, was “forced into liquidation” last year after owing £400k to creditors.

A spokesman for the brand said: “We want to thank the restaurant manager and all of his team for all of their hard work delivering great entertainment night after night.

“People don’t understand how hard it is to run both a restaurant and a theatre simultaneously, especially in such fierce trading conditions.”

The eatery was launched in Sydney, Australia in 2021 and opened its first restaurants in the UK in 2022 with locations in Sheffield, Manchester and Birmingham.

Launches in London’s Islington, Barnet and Brighton followed in 2023 in a rapid expansion.

The Sun reported that the chain was growing in popularity with Brits at the time.

The Brighton site closed in March after police found traces of cocaine on a baby changing table.

A man was also slammed for taking his daughter to Karen’s Diner for her eighth birthday.

He shared a snippet of the evening’s events that left people divided with some thinking it was hilarious and others saying it was “appalling” and “disgusting” to take a young child there.

Laura, who shares 21-month-old daughter Bonnie with ex Gary Lucy, shared a series of highligh snaps from the getaway – telling followers it was gifted to her.

And some were quick to hit out at the TV star for being given the freebie.

One wrote: “I don’t understand society!

“I mean, I get it I get why companies give free holidays like this to promote, but imagine if they allowed people who wouldn’t normally experience these types of things and let them promote on social media.

“Like underpaid nurses, doctors paramedics firemen and women the people that put out so much into society.”

But some pointed out that it’s Laura’s job as an influencer to promote companies.

One said: “It’s called a PR stay. It’s her job, she has over 1.5 million followers she is able to promote this to. It’s how she earns a living.”

Laura and Clark – who plays for Dundee – went public with their relationship in October last year.

And she later revealed the surprise way they got together.

Laura told The Sun: “It’s not very romantic, he messaged me online and I saw it about three years later and replied and here we are.

“I didn’t make it public for a little bit, but we’ve been together for a little bit.

“It’s nice, it’s chilled, no drama, just simple. A good Scottish boy, I can’t complain.”
