Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise sharing the screen again… almost happened, but with one surprising condition. While promoting his upcoming Formula 1-inspired movie, Pitt finally addressed the long-standing question: who’s faster behind the wheel? The Fight Club star opened up about his friendly rivalry with Cruise, revealing whether the Top Gun legend actually beat him in a race.
And as for teaming up again, Pitt made it clear he’s open to it, but only under one very specific circumstance. The two Hollywood heavyweights haven’t worked together since Interview with the Vampire, but the door might not be shut just yet.
Brad Pitt’s all in for a Tom Cruise reunion, just minus the planes and stunts

Brad Pitt’s back in the fast lane with F1, his upcoming racing drama directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski. And naturally, Tom Cruise’s name came up, because when it comes to speed on screen, Cruise is the king of crazy stunts.
But when E! News asked Pitt if he’d team up with Cruise again, he didn’t hold back. “Well, I’m not going to hang my a** off airplanes and s*** like that,” Pitt said with a laugh. “So when he does something again, that’s on the ground.”
Translation: Pitt’s down to reunite, just not at 10,000 feet.
Turns out, these two go way back. Before Cruise was gripping onto aircrafts mid-flight, he and Pitt were tearing up the Go-Kart track in the early ’90s.

Tom Cruise, ever the adrenaline junkie, has been nothing but supportive of F1. He even praised it at CinemaCon, saying he “couldn’t wait” to see it this summer (via Collider). Kosinski joked that Cruise couldn’t play Pitt’s role because it’d be “a lot more dangerous for them all.”
Sounds about right.
The last time Brad Pitt and Cruise shared the screen was in 1994’s Interview with the Vampire, a gothic cult classic that cemented both stars as dramatic heavyweights. And while a reunion isn’t in the fast lane just yet, the mutual respect is clearly still there.
For now, we’ve got Pitt on the track and Cruise in the skies, each doing what they do best.
Tom Cruise recalls late-night go-kart races with Brad Pitt and says he can’t wait to see F1

Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise weren’t just dueling vampires in Interview with the Vampire, but were also racing go-karts after hours.
While hyping up Pitt’s upcoming racing drama F1 at CinemaCon, Cruise recalled their off-set antics, per Variety: “We’d literally finish and go drive go-karts all night,” he said, adding, “He’s a very good driver.”
Cruise also praised F1, calling it “awesome” and saying he “can’t wait” to see it. The film, from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, sees Pitt return to the track as a retired Formula 1 driver.
And yes, Cruise’s vampire Lestat did get one iconic joyride, just not in a go-kart.
F1 hits theaters on June 27, 2025.
