Teens have big plans this summer — big crafting plans, that is. Pinterest just released their 2025 Summer Trend Report, and it shows teens are interested in exploring their creativity this season. They are tapping into their artistic side with hands-on arts and crafts, IRL projects, and ideas for new hobbies they can do on their own or with friends. Think: book clubs, painting ideas, and summer crafts. As a crafty person myself, I can totally get behind this aesthetic!
Searching for “cute summer crafts” has gone up by 106 percent, according to the report, with other high searches including “summer crafts for teens” up 93 percent, “fun group art projects” up 79 percent, and “cute summer paintings easy” up 64 percent.
This might look like making lip gloss keychains with swivel snap hooks and colorful beads. In fact, “lip gloss keychain” is up 3,045 percent on the app! Or using fabric paint and stencils on canvas tote bags to paint cute designs. Bikini boxes, which are wooden crates that you can paint with sea creatures and more, are also popular. (The cute aesthetic combined with practicality is the best!)
Gen Z is also into the book club culture right now — yay, reading! — with searches for “book club crafts” up 558 percent, “book club stickers” up 243 percent, and “book club invitations” up 173 percent, per the Pinterest report.
This could be making bejeweled book covers with colorful jewels or making pressed flower bookmarks with dried wildflowers.
Other things teens are searching for on Pinterest include “summer charm necklace” (up 66 percent), “thrifted outfits summer” (up 42 percent), “summer fruit nails” (up 249 percent), and “summer romance books” (up 51 percent).
The move toward painting, crafting, and reading makes our hearts soar. It’s exactly the kind of the thing I did as a preteen and teen in the early 2000s, and with Pinterest and things on Amazon making it easy to get all your craft supplies, it’s easier than ever to have an artsy summer!
