6 Upcoming Movies of Sebastian Stan Besides Avengers: Doomsday

“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, many are strong at the broken places”, said Ernest Hemingway. But in Sebastian Stan’s case? He doesn’t just get strong; he shapeshifts, reinvents, and signs six more films like he’s casually ordering coffee.

We’ve always felt that Stan is one of those actors who walks the line between mainstream fame and indie intensity. You blink, and he’s Bucky Barnes crashing through Marvel blockbusters. You blink again, and he’s somewhere in a dark psychological thriller, chewing the scenery with an acclaimed director. And now, even as Avengers: Doomsday looms on the 2026 horizon with Tom Hiddleston beside him (record-breakers, mind you), Stan is stacking up a cinematic arsenal outside the Marvel machine and it’s deliciously eclectic.

Oh, and Thunderbolts* just dropped, so yes, he’s still very much knee-deep in super-suits and secrets.

Sebastian Stan’s upcoming projects: Beyond the shield

Sebastian Stan is set to star in six upcoming films beyond Avengers: Doomsday.

Sebastian Stan is clearly not one to rest on vibranium laurels. According to the report by Film Crave, here’s what’s cooking, presenting his upcoming movie lineup:

  • Fjord – Directed by Cristian Mungiu and co-starring the magnificent Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World), this one promises quiet intensity and emotional excavation. With Mungiu’s signature realism and Stan’s gift for subtlety, this feels like a film that could either haunt us or heal us or both.
  • Burning Rainbow Farm – Helmed by Justin Kurzel, this film pairs Stan with Leo Woodall (One Day) and seems to be cloaked in mystery. Given Kurzel’s gritty visual style (Macbeth, Nitram), expect something raw, maybe even brutal.
  • Let the Evil Go West – this one with Lily James and Danish director Christian Tafdrup? Sign us up. The title alone feels like a Quentin Tarantino fever dream.
  • Ruins – Starring alongside Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman), this project might be the most emotionally volatile of the bunch. Details are still under wraps, but Kirby and Stan together? That’s bound to be a volatile mix of poise and chaos.
  • Pumping Black – Directed by Mimi Cave, this is much-awaited. Think Whiplash meets Drive, maybe. With Cave’s eye (Fresh), we expect something kinetic, stylish, and maybe deeply unhinged.
  • Reckless– A long-awaited adaptation. If it’s the one we think it is, we’re looking at a psychological, hard-hitting piece. And Stan, who thrives in that emotionally grey area, will no doubt give us something we can’t look away from.

And how can we forget Avengers: Doomsday? Yes, a star-studded lineup is gearing up for a return. Florence Pugh, Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Letitia Wright, and Simu Liu are all back in the mix, and they’re not coming alone. Sebastian Stan is also rejoining the ranks.

So yeah, his forthcoming movies look like a feast. And we plan to devour every second of it.

Sebastian Stan talks Thunderbolts* and texts from Anthony Mackie

Sebastian Stan may have the face of a thousand secrets, but every once in a while, he lets the charm peek out. While chatting at a recent press event for Thunderbolts*, the 42-year-old actor recounted the unexpected (yet entirely on-brand) text from his longtime Marvel co-star, Anthony Mackie

“I got a text that went, ‘What’s up player’”, Stan said (via PEOPLE), mimicking Mackie’s laid-back swagger.

And I was like, um ‘Not much. How are you?’

The banter didn’t end there. Mackie followed up with a simple query: “When you come in, where are you staying at?” Stan’s reply? A noncommittal shrug in text form:

I don’t know yet, Anthony. I don’t have my place yet.

To which Mackie retorted, with comedic precision,

Don’t be like that.

These two have been circling each other in Marvel’s orbit since 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, gradually carving out a rapport that’s part buddy-cop, part brotherly squabble. Their latest on-screen team unfolded in the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

He plays Bucky Barnes in Marvel films, including Avengers: Doomsday (2026).

When it comes to the vibe on set for Thunderbolts*, Stan seemed genuinely upbeat. He told PEOPLE:

I knew that it was gonna be great just because we all got along. You’re putting a new bunch of people together that you haven’t really tested out before.

That ensemble includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Wyatt Russell reprising his role as the morally gray U.S. Agent.

Thunderbolts* has hit U.S. theaters on May 2 as the final act of the MCU’s Phase Five. Critics responded with measured applause. While the box office haul, $378 million, is modest by Marvel’s high standards, it still secured a spot as the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2025. A quiet win, if not a thunderous one.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026.
