Not Lucky Cyan, X Is Responsible for the Only Happy Ending We Got in ‘To Be Hero X’

Up until Lucky Cyan’s arc, To Be Hero X appeared to be a compilation of tragic character stories told in an anthological narrative. From the heartwrenching cliffhanger at the end of the Nice arc, to the dark conclusion of the E-Soul arc, it was setback after setback that seemed to be the only way the series would introduce further characters.

But Lucky Cyan’s arc broke that trend. It is now the only happy ending for an arc that we’ve gotten from the series. And as it may sound obvious, Lucky Cyan’s character itself must have made this possible, right? At least, that’s what people would think, since her power is Luck itself. But no. In case you missed it, X is behind everything that’s now happening in the world of To Be Hero X.

It was X who gave Cyan the first coin!

Remember, there was this scene where Cyan ran away from the orphanage, leaving Dean and Luo behind, to earn freedom? Using her only pair of rollerskates, she just ran without looking back, under the moonlit sky, and at long last, she reached a town.

Not knowing what to do next, she started playing the guitar that she brought along with her; the melody was mesmerizing, and with her magical voice in the mix, the whole scene turned into a hypnotizing atmosphere. However, right after a while, something very interesting happened.

We saw a random nobody in a black suit giving Cyan a coin as a token of appreciation for the song. Now, many might overlook him as some passerby, but he wasn’t. In fact, as it turns out, he was the man himself, Hero X, the No. 1 hero in the current hero ranking.

However, the events of Lucky Cyan’s arc took place in the past, so he might not have become the top hero back then. But judging from his posture and vibe, it’s obvious he was X. It was uncannily similar to how he passed on that coin to the Dog Hero, Tora, in the first PV trailer that was released around 2 years ago.

X is pulling the strings behind the fate of each Hero to be introduced!

The way the series is heading, it seems that everything we’re witnessing in each hero introduction arc has a connection to X somehow. All of the events in Nice, E-Soul, and Lucky Cyan’s arc were in the past, suggesting X was responsible for them becoming heroes, which earned him enough trust points to be the top hero now.

It’s as if he’s always been working in the shadows, never making a public appearance. So, at some point, everyone would think of him as someone with omnipresence, not knowing who he actually is. That way, he might even get powers equal to being the god of this hero world.

There’s very little information available now about X’s current whereabouts or why he’s not making a direct appearance. But it’s safe to assume we’ll get our answers in future episodes when all other hero introductions are done. We also have that hero tournament coming soon in the real timeline, as mentioned in the Nice arc.

To Be Hero X is currently airing on Crunchyroll.
