Ireland waiting almost WEEK for warm weather return as Met Eireann pinpoint 21C day amid ‘thunder’ & cloud forecast

IRELAND could be waiting up to a week to see the recent warm weather return – as the country is set to be covered by cloud until then.

A recent mini heatwave brought temperatures of up to 25C in some parts of the country and officially kicked off the summer season.

But the past few days have brought Ireland back to basics with showers, cloud, and milder temperatures.

Now, weather bosses have predicted that a band of cloud will settle in over the country until at least this weekend.

According to Met Eireann, every day from now until Friday will be cloudy, at which time showers lasting the weekend will break out.

Today is set to be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle which will mainly affect the north of the country.

It will be drier further south, with temperatures between 13C and 17C, with moderate to fresh southwesterly breezes predicted.

And meteorologist Alan O’Reilly at Carlow Weather confirmed the prediction on social media.

Posting on X, he said: “A cloudy day ahead with showers mainly in West and North.”

Tonight will continue to be cloudy with drizzle likely to persist into the morning.

Met Eireann predict: “Rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain across the northern half of the country with occasional drizzle elsewhere.

“The best of the dry weather will be in the southeast.”

Tomorrow will see more cloud, rain, and drizzle, despite some sunny spells in the north of the country.

Weather bosses forecast: “Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees, with mostly light southwest breezes.”

Tuesday night will remain cloudy along with showers and drizzle.

Temperatures will sit between 9C and 13C with light southerly breezes which will allow mist and fog to develop.

On Wednesday, Met Eireann predict a cloudy start to the day with showers developing later in the afternoon.

They said: “Showers may turn heavy at times. Feeling milder too with highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees, in moderate southerly winds.”

Wednesday night will see showers continue with “heavy bursts” predicted, although they are set to ease off for an overcast morning.

Met Eireann said: “Likely becoming overcast by dawn as showers ease. Mild with temperatures not falling below 13 to 15 degrees.

“Breezy with moderate to fresh easterly winds.”

And Thursday will bring heavy showers with a chance of thunderstorms, although this will clear off to sunny spells by evening.

Highest temperatures heading into the weekend will be between 18C and 22C.

Friday will bring more outbreaks of heavy showers with fresh southerly winds and temperatures between 16C and 19C.

And this weekend is forecast for low pressure with “frequent showers” on the way.
