One Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Star’s Rumored MCU Return Can Redeem the Inhumans

The Marvel Cinematic Universe struck gold when it decided to bring back the cast of Fox’s run with the X-Men as a part of the multiverse saga. Whether they stick around post-Doomsday and Secret Wars is another matter entirely. Still, it must be noted that their presence opened the doors for a lot of non-MCU Marvel properties to make their appearance in the Multiverse Saga.

With all this love being showered on such projects, rumor has it that the multiverse might be the gateway for the MCU to finally acknowledge Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a key character who might be entering the MCU proper. This would not only be great for its fans, but could also possibly redeem an entirely different property that the MCU snubbed.

If Chloe Bennet returns to the MCU as Quake, the Inhumans’ redemption might be at hand

Chloe Bennet has been rumored to be heading towards the MCU, given her status as an Inhuman, a part of the franchise that was largely swept under the rug thanks to the failure of the Inhumans show. However, if Quake is indeed going to be a part of the MCU, one of the most celebrated factions of the Marvel Universe might finally get a chance beyond the cameo that Black Bolt had in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The Inhumans are an important part of the mythology of Marvel Cosmic, as well as the Fantastic Four. While key Inhumans like Kamala Khan might have been rebranded as mutants in the MCU and the comics, there is a lot that the characters can offer, especially with the advent of the X-Men and Marvel’s First Family in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Quake’s appearance would also allow Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to gain some credence in the MCU, having been largely ignored by projects that would be radically different if the show’s impact was acknowledged (like, do the Avengers still think that Phil Coulson is dead?).

If the Inhumans have no place in the MCU anymore, they need to be given their own space outside of it

There have been plenty of Marvel projects in recent decades that have been set outside of the MCU and have managed to do pretty well. Be it the Spider-Verse films, Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, or X-Men ’97, there are plenty of shows that fans and audiences are enjoying. If the Inhumans are redeemable, then Kevin Feige needs to make them into their own thing outside the MCU.

Given how well Marvel Animation has been doing with stand-alone properties, The Inhumans would make for a great animated show that could not only give fans an adaptation that they could be proud of but also allow these rich characters to shine in the spotlight.

However, given that multiple sources have reported hearing whispers of Marvel going cosmic in the wake of the Multiverse Saga, it is possible that the Inhumans might get a legitimate chance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after all. However, if that is not in the cards, what harm could a self-contained, stand-alone project involving these vibrant characters do?
