After almost a two-year hiatus, Capcom finally broke its silence with its very first next-gen sci-fi game, Pragmata, in Sony’s State of Play 2025. A Japanese video game company, best known for its commercially successful titles, such as the Street Fighter series, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Devil May Cry, is about to enter a new landscape — a science fiction-based action adventure. As per PlayStation’s latest trailer, the title is scheduled to release in 2026, and yes, it’s real.
Initially, Capcom showcased its newest IP in the PlayStation 5 “Future of Gaming” event, and it was scheduled to release in 2023. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, it had been delayed for an indefinite period. Now that the company is finally showing some signs of life about its new title, it’s high time you brace yourself to dive into a new sci-fi mystery adventure in outer space.
On that note, let’s explore five good reasons you should eagerly anticipate Capcom’s upcoming sci-fi title, Pragmata.

1) Unique and mysterious narrative
As we’ve all seen in sci-fi games like Control, Detroit: Become Human, and Death Stranding, the protagonist usually roams around the biome, interacting with different things, and fighting creatures with their abilities. This is where Capcom showed their creative aspect and integrated a companionship feature.
The main narrative of the title remains in the shadows in the official trailer. However, we can tell that it showcases an emotional story between a mysterious man with a high-tech suit, named Hugh, and possibly an Android, dubbed DI0367. Both the characters roam around a collapsed lunar station, fighting droids. And the exciting part is that the little girl/Android, Diana, has some sort of hacking powers to neutralize the robots.
The overall narrative of Pragamata covers huge elements, such as the relationship between man and Android, survival in outer space, and the workings of a mysterious organization, dubbed Delphi Corporation.
2) A brand new sci-fi title from Capcom
As mentioned earlier, Capcom is best known for its critically acclaimed titles, such as Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and many more. These titles have possibly covered every popular aspect, like fantasy action-adventure, action role-playing, horror survival, and more. However, they were yet to enter this science-fiction action-adventure genre.
With no previous storyline, Capcom has finally touched a brand-new territory, showcasing its creative freedom and possibly a unique take on the narrative. It also covers different aspects, like isolation, hope, usage of Artificial Intelligence, post-apocalyptic trauma, and more.
The official trailer, depicting a dystopian world with a touch of emotional bonding between a human and an android, is something you should definitely look forward to.

Before entering an AAA title, most gamers usually consider its graphics and how visually appealing the atmosphere is. Judging from Pragmata‘s official trailer, Capcom surely ticks the criteria of being visually attractive and detail-oriented.
The official trailer depicts an eerie and mysterious atmosphere for the title. While it’ll be a new experience for Capcom users, other gamers who are familiar with titles like Dead Space and Control will surely be familiar with this atmosphere.

Even though I’ve mentioned it earlier, I’ll say it again and again that Capcom’s creative take on the sci-fi genre has finally come to light with Pragmata. This creativity shows in their new, unique combat system. According to the official PlayStation Blog, the company has implemented such a system where you must control two protagonists at the same time to defeat the lunar station droids. The developers have promised to provide more information about the techniques in the upcoming days.
5) The ending note
Lastly, the gentle apology letter at the end of the Pragmata trailer got us all hooked about what’s next for the sci-fi title. It’s quite rare that a company puts an apology note, saying “Very Sorry :(“ for not releasing the title at an earlier time stamp. It’ll be interesting to see what Capcom puts on the table for gamers worldwide in 2026.
